What is Flipdish?

Flipdish is a restaurant technology company founded in 2015 by brothers Conor and James McCarthy, with offices in Dublin, London and Karachi. It describes itself as an all-in-one restaurant management system and says it has reached unicorn status, valued at over $1bn (its own description, on its company page).

What it sells in the UK, from its pricing pages on 20 October 2026:

• Online ordering websites for restaurants and takeaways, with menu management, loyalty and retention, reporting and integrated payments.
• Branded mobile apps, sold with the website, plus third-party delivery integration.
• Self-service kiosks, with the hardware sold on its own.
• A point-of-sale (POS) bundle that adds the Flipdish POS, caller ID, CRM, automated marketing, payroll and staff management.

Flipdish suits operators who want one supplier for the till, the kiosk, the app and online orders. Chefzi is narrower: it's the online ordering side only, priced for a single independent site.

Flipdish reviews: what UK users say

Flipdish has a claimed company profile on Trustpilot. This is what its UK Trustpilot page showed when we checked at about 10:00 PKT on 20 October 2026. The numbers change daily, so follow the link for the current picture.

What positive reviews talk about. Of the 20 most recent reviews (9 to 19 October 2026), 17 were five-star and 3 were one-star. Most of the five-star reviews thank a named member of the onboarding or set-up team, and some say the system is easy to use day to day. Trustpilot's own AI-generated summary on the page says much the same.

What critical reviews talk about. We read the 20 most recent one- and two-star reviews (21 October 2025 to 16 October 2026). The recurring themes were:

• After-sales support: slow replies, unreturned calls and limited phone hours for shops that open early.
• Order printing: orders not printing in the shop, or printing late.
• Contracts and cancelling: one reviewer says they were told the notice period was one month and later asked for three.
• Billing: charges for integrations reviewers say they'd cancelled or didn't use, including Uber Direct delivery.
• Launch problems: a wrong menu or late integrations at go-live.

A few of those reviews come from diners complaining about an order, not from restaurants using Flipdish. Flipdish had posted a public reply to 14 of the 20.

• You need third-party delivery integration or loyalty built in.

When Chefzi is the better fit

• You mainly need direct online orders for collection and delivery, plus QR table ordering.
• You want a fixed monthly fee (£19 cash-only or £29 with card payments, excl. VAT) and 0% commission.
• You already have a till you're happy with.
• You want month-to-month terms and the menu moved for you.

Is Chefzi cheaper than Flipdish?
